Qualified nurses can opt for a three months Bridging programme to qualify to become a registered nurse in Australia.
If you have successfully completed your assessment process with with APHRA then the IRON / Bridging programme is the ideal one for you
.
In addition to the APHRA letter, to apply for this 3 months licensing programme, you should have a valid EILTS Certificate (min score on each band = 7.0), an updated CV/Resume, evidence of 2 years work experience and in that that 12 months within the last two years with no breaks in between).Evidence of Qualifications (such as Diploma, Transcript of Records, Certificates etc). The tuition fees costs around AUS$13,000 – 16,000.
The other option is a direct conversion programme without undergoing APHRA assessment. The programme is called as AUSTRALIAN REGISTERED NURSES TRAINING PROGRAMME. GNM nurses are also eligible for this programme.
The prospective nurse student should be currently registered in their home country as a registered nurse and has cleared IELTS with 7.0 in all segments. In addition to that the student should have a couple of years of work experience as a registered nurse in the practicing country in that 12 months should be within the last two years.
The programme duration is 12 months. Students will qualify to register with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse, on successful completion of the programme. The tuition fees is around AU$15000.
The third option is to gain entry in to the 2nd year of a Bachelor Degree (Nursing) course offered in an approved nursing School of a University in Australia.
The outcome:
(a) You will gain an Australian BSc(N) degree.
(b) You will qualify for a post study work visa for at least 2 years
(c) IRON requirement could be waived for registration
(d) ILETS requirement also could be waived considering your 2 years continue study in Australia for a Degree.
Cost: Average cost of a semester’s study in an Australian University is AU$8500. Two years study consists 4 semesters.
