Solar motion sensor lights have a small electronic eye that detects infrared waves (heat waves) that radiate from moving objects. When the sensor detects movement the light will automatically turn on. The duration can be adjusted from lengths of 1-4 minutes, and will stay continuously on as long as motion is detected. They can detect motion up to 45 feet away within a 180-degree area. The lights have a day/night photocell that deactivates during daylight hours.

Where to install your Solar Motion Sensor Lights

Ideally, it is best to mount your solar motion sensor light approx. 6 to 10 ft. above the ground and position the motion detector pointing toward your walkway that leads to your front or back doors. That way the lights will come on when you approach your home at night. They are also great for adding light to potential hazardous locations such as stairways, decks, or swimming pools.
